The Application Process
Once you’ve inquired and visited Cambridge School, we invite you to begin the application process! This includes:
1. Complete the online admission application form
2. Supply supporting documents, including a cognitive battery, any available educational and psychological testing, and school records (e.g. I.E.P.)
3. Schedule a student visit and screening/placement testing (Please note a screening fee applies)
Upon completion of the above, documents and student information are reviewed by the Admission Committee. The Director of Admission then relays admission decisions to families in a timely manner.

Early Intervention Scholarship
Research is increasingly clear that early intervention is critical for educating children with learning differences, especially if there is a family history of dyslexia or undiagnosed learning challenges. Many times parents are given a variety of reasons why they should “wait and see” and hope that their child’s academic skills improve with time. To make it possible for children to receive early intensive intervention, we offer scholarships for students in grades K-2. Call 609-730-9553 for more information.
Typical Learning Profile at Each Grade Level
No matter the academic level of your child, we have the resources and tools to help them reach their full potential. Below are typical student learning profiles.
Lower School (Grades K-4)
The typical Cambridge Lower School student struggles with the fundamental concepts of reading, writing and/or math. While the nature and degree of the challenges vary from student to student, it can range from poor letter and number recognition and formation, to the inability to decode connected sounds. After initial diagnostic assessment, students are placed in small groups based on specific areas of need, to receive structured literacy and math instruction.
Middle School (Grades 5-8)
Each student’s learning profile is increasingly unique at this level. Middle School students who are newly admitted to Cambridge can present with a range of challenges from poor decoding and spelling skills, to higher level language comprehension challenges, weak executive function, math difficulties, and/or insufficient written expression skills. At this level, diagnostic assessment is critical to allow for the differential academic instruction that each student personally needs to succeed.
Upper School (Grades 9-12)
As with the Middle School student, the learning profile of the Upper School student varies significantly. Some students enter the Upper School as dysfluent readers while others are challenged by attention, executive function, processing, math, and/or written expression. Each student’s unique learning profile is identified and supported across the school day. For students who are twice exceptional, Cambridge teachers effectively address their learning challenges while also nurturing the areas in which they excel.
The teachers are highly educated, thoughtful, and nurturing. They provide rigorous academic challenges, as well as the tools and strategies needed to meet those challenges. I am so pleased.
